DON'T LIMIT GOD!

The Bible tells us in Eph 3:20-21 about God's great power. .. "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen"

That's a mind boggling statement - that God can do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine - but it's true. Theologians use big words to describe God's being, like IMMEASURABLE, IMMUTABLE, OMNIPRESENT (everywhere present), OMNIPOTENT (all powerful) etc. When we have written down all the attributes and adjectives we know to describe God, we will still be left with the title of a Christian book - YOUR GOD IS TOO SMALL.

Recently I watched a film which basically was a about people who had chosen to live in a kind of time warp. The film brought out the conflicting emotions of love and fear.

When one of the young men lay dying the elder asked the doctor if anything could be done for him. He was told nothing, as they did not have the proper medicine and they had vowed to stay isolated. Then the elder asked what could be done if there were NO LIMITS. He was told about medicine that was available in the outside world. If they allowed their thinking and actions to go "outside their box/mindset" then he could be helped. It's a great message - what could be done if there were no limits?

I want to remind you that God is a God of no limits. Paul, in Ephesians 3:18,19 says it is impossible to grasp the height and depth etc of God's love. As you read this short message today I want to encourage you to look to the God who is able to do the impossible.

If you are an unbeliever seeking for hope, then He is the God of Hope. And if you think you are too far gone - just look at Saul of Tarsus, who called himself the chief of sinners. If you are a backslider remember the prodigal son. If you are a Christian remember there is no limit to what God can do. The Lord Jesus told us about faith that can move mountains; he paid temple tax by telling Peter to take a coin from a fish's mouth.

Many years ago my grandfather told me a story about a man from the country who went to the nearest city by train. In those days that was a big adventure. He returned saying the city was beautiful and was all made of glass. He had only visited the station!!! A whole adventure awaited him but he was limited because of His vision.

A visitor to his town once asked a man, if any great people had been born there. His reply was nope..only babies. I have come to believe that there are not really great men and women of God so much as there are a great God of men and women.

Let me encourage you, dear reader - look to the One who made you and loves you. Give Him your life. Trust Him with all your heart and you will be amazed at the adventure that awaits you.
