World Missions
The
Church gives at least a quarter of its
annual income to Missions and
Missionaries. As a result the poor and needy in numerous
countries have benefited and continue to
benefit from
the ongoing resources sent from the Assembly. The growing collection of
flags from the various countries where finance is
sent, and the pictures displayed on
the information display bear a clear witness to an
active
involvement in the world in which
we live. These act as prayer prompts and as a visible sign of our
partnership with the missionaries in these countries.
In recent
years both Pastors and
some members of the congregation have travelled on mission to
various parts of the world including, Eastern Europe, Africa,
India, Philippines and the Ukraine. Each Monday morning
the Church prays for missions, for the
denominational departments, the wider
Body of Christ,
the Local Community and the Nation. Missions literature is rotated
on a fortnightly basis resulting in approx
400 pieces of literature being
displayed over the two weeks covering 40 different
countries and people groups.
The
Church has
particularly close links with Brazil and the
Philippines due to generous bequests from an elderly couple in the
congregation, in memory of their only
daughter, who died very suddenly at a relatively young age.
As a result there is now a school in the Philippines
called "The Katriona
M Graham
Learning Centre""and
a care centre in Brazil called "The Katriona
M Graham
Care Centre"
both named after their
daughter.
